CODATA

CODATA’s mission is to connect data and people to advance science and improve our world.  As the Committee on Data of the International Science Council, CODATA helps realise ISC’s vision of science as a global public good  mission of advancing science as a global public good.  Established in 1966, CODATA’s membership includes National Academies, Science Councils, International Scientific Unions and Associations and other organisations that care about data.  CODATA works with its membership and community to promote global collaboration to advance Open Science and to improve the availability and usability of data for all areas of research.

Research Data Alliance (RDA)

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) was launched as a community-driven initiative in 2013 with the vision that researchers and innovators can openly share and re-use data across technologies, disciplines, and countries to address the grand challenges of society.

The RDA’s mission is to build the social and technical bridges that enable that vision, accomplished through the creation, adoption and use of the social, organisational, and technical infrastructure needed to reduce barriers to data sharing and exchange. Scientists & researchers join forces with technical experts in focused Working Groups, exploratory Interest Groups and Communities of Practice. RDA’s membership is composed of individuals, organisations and regional groups.

World Data System (WDS)

Per the WDS Constitution, WDS is governed by the Scientific Committee which is elected by the WDS regular and network members (WDS membership directory) and then reviewed and approved by the International Science Council, The WDS SC is made up of leading scientists and experts who are actively involved with data.

The World Data System (WDS) is an affiliated body of the International Science Council (ISC), the oldest and largest scientific organization in the world, and has the mission to enhance the capabilities, impact, and sustainability of its member repositories and data services by creating trusted communities of scientific data repositories, strengthening the scientific enterprise throughout the entire lifecycle of data to create first-class data that feeds first-class research output and by advocating for accessible data and transparent and reproducible science. WDS’s International Program Office is hosted by the University of Tennessee’s Oak Ridge Innovation Institute and is located on the campus of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, United States. This work is supported by a cooperative agreement (DE-SC0021915) with the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science. WDS’s International Technology Office is hosted by Oceans Network Canada and is located on the campus of University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This work is supported by the Digital Research Alliance of Canada and Ocean Networks Canada.

Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC)

At the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC), we drive the development of national digital research infrastructure that provides Australian researchers with competitive advantage through data.

We facilitate programs and partnerships that provide the research community and industry access to nationally significant, data-intensive digital research infrastructure, platforms, skills and collections of high-quality data.

We also support researchers and their organisations with digital research services, most of which are either available to all or to merit-based researchers at no cost.

Our digital research infrastructure activities directly support the Australian research community to generate real and tangible outcomes for society.
